Adelaide Hills Wine Region Wine Folk Wednesday

Turon Wines is one of the new kids on the block in our Hills and as noted by James Halliday in Wine Companion, with this winery ‘...the sky’s the limit!” after he named the label in his Top 3 New Producers for 2019.

Turon & Alex White are newlyweds who tied the knot (over a glass of wine) in the Hills late last year. They are working with the vision to produce an Adelaide Hills label that showcases varieties that excel at growing in the subregions of our cool climate region. They fell for our Hills when they saw the elegance and quality of the wine produced and the community of collaboration and innovation that exists in our young(er) region.

Whilst studying Oenology and working for various small wineries, Turon identified that the Adelaide Hills was where he ultimately wanted to lay his winemaking hat, to allow the broad terroir of our region to speak through carefully selected sites in his final wines. His approach is holistic, hand crafted and playful yet elegant. Each Vintage is a marriage between this careful site selection and honing the science of his winemaking craft; the ’...balance between art and science.'

Their Lobethal based winery, the Hills Handcrafted Collective, recently turned coworking space when the couple saw the opportunity to turn it into a hub for young winemakers looking to rent space and equipment. An opportunity to bring together knowledge and passion, share resources and of course make great, small batch wine! A share space for Winefolk… Sounds like heaven to us!
